Cate Blanchett turns down several roles after 'Tar' because she falls "in and out of love" with acting

Soap2day – Cate Blanchett has been thinking about giving up acting all the time. Even though she is expected to win her third Oscar for playing an obsessive conductor in the critically acclaimed movie, "Tar," the 53-year-old actress says she thinks about quitting her job every day and week because she falls "in and out of love with it."

"It doesn't happen once in a while; it happens all the time. It's a love story, right? So you do fall in and out of love with it, and you have to be wooed back into it "she told Vanity Fair magazine in the February issue. She has also turned down several roles since "Tar" because she thought it was time to be "quiet" after how hard it was to play the part.

The actress, who won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her role in Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator" and for playing a stressed-out socialite in Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine" in 2013, is one of the favorites to win another Best Actress award at the 2023 Oscars.

In the movie, she plays Lydia Tar, who grows up to become the first woman to lead a German orchestra. It has been nominated for six Oscars, including one for "Best Picture."

Cate said to "The Sunday Project" last month about thinking about retiring, he said, "I think it was because ('Tar') was such a physical role. The echoes of it are still with me, and I think, like a lot of people in the audience, I need time to process it. I've been lucky enough to work with some amazing directors who have changed my life, but when it all comes together like that, it does stay with you. So now I don't want to work ever again."

Cate has a daughter and three sons with her screenwriter husband, Andrew Upton, 56. She said that working all over the world has made her miss her family and that she has been "profoundly homesick" for the past four years. She dreams of going back to her home country of Australia so she can garden and be near water.

She said, "Like most Australians, I'm very interested in water. I want to be near the water and in it. I would love to learn to be patient, to be still, and to think. My grandmother was a great gardener, and my mother is also a great gardener. My mother lives with us, and I'd love to spend time with her in the garden."
